Central Park
While the City has nine parks, Central Park is the most popular recreational area in Ashland. The 47 acre space, located between 17th & 22nd Streets and Central and Lexington Avenues, is a welcome retreat from hectic lives.
The old, majestic trees provide shelter from the summer sun. The tranquil pond is a beautiful sight to behold. The park is a wonderful setting for bird watching or for attending an outdoor concert. Of course, some parts of the park are bustling with activity as enthusiasts engage in walking, jogging, baseball, basketball, tennis, volleyball, horse shoes, playground activities, board games, picnicking and more.
Additionally, many organized events are held at Central Park. Early in the spring, the park hosts an annual Easter Egg Hunt. In July, some Summer Motion events are held here. The Labor Day Celebration, as well as the Poage's Landing Days Craft show, calls the park home in September. October finds hundreds of Trick-Or-Treaters making their way down haunted trails. During December, the park is aglow with beautiful displays during the Winter Wonderland of Lights festival. The year of park activities winds up with a great New Year's Eve celebration.
